PHOTOGRAPHS THAT TRULY CAPTURE YOUR FAMILY AND YOUR RELATIONSHIPS TO TREASURE AND DISPLAY IN YOUR FAMILY HOME
A FAMILY LIFESTYLE SHOOT IS FOCUSED ON CAPTURING IMAGES THAT TRULY REFLECT YOUR FAMILY.
Just as every family is unique, so is my approach to capturing yours. My photoshoots are bespoke, personalised and individually tailored to the needs and preferences of your family.
To learn about you and your family, we will arrange a pre-shoot consultation over phone or video call. This is an important opportunity for you to tell me what you want from your images. You can share any delightful quirks, talents and passions your children have, and we can decide on the best location for your photoshoot.
I am happy to shoot at your home or on location, perhaps during a family walk, picnic or other event. Somewhere you can really relax and enjoy the experience.
I am passionate about taking natural images that are bursting with personality. Photos that truly capture your family relationships and connection. I want my clients to look at their portraits and say, ‘Yes, these capture us perfectly!’

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
+ Are there any prints included in my session?
The package fee covers your pre-shoot consultation, your photography shoot, professional editing and the number of high resolution digital images detailed in your package. I am currently not offering prints but will be offering this service in the very near future.
+ I only want digital images of my family so I can print them myself, do you do this?
Yes, you will recieve the number of high resolution digital images specified in your package.
+ What is a pre-shoot consultation?
This is just a fancy way of saying we can have an open, honest and friendly chat about all that you are hoping for from your shoot. We can arrange it for a time when you can spare 15-20 minutes to tell me all about your lovely family, any worries you have and any ideas you have for the shoot. We can do it via a video call or over the phone, whichever you feel most comfortable with.
+ Do you only work outdoors at a location?
Most of my family portrait clients do prefer outdoor shoots and images. I do, however also take images indoors and offer my home studio for shoots or even a pop up studio that can be assembled in 10 minutes in your own home. All you need is two metres by two metres of space and one standard plug socket that I could use. Many of my clients like to begin with shots in their own home before being photographed locally outside.
+ Do you offer new born photography, with new born posing, outfits and props?
Stylised Newborn Photography (sleeping posed babies with matching outfits and props) is a specialised genre of photography. Although I appreciate this style of photography, it is not my preferred way to photograph new borns. I do photograph new born babies but my approach is more natural and authentic, capturing real moments between new parents and their child with just a little guidance on poses.
+ What happens if I have booked an outdoor shoot with you and the weather is bad?
If only we could also control weather! First we need to question what is "bad" weather? A little secret we photographers like to keep is that the best shooting days are cloudy days! Just think of those clouds as giant soft boxes in the sky creating lovely light on your family's faces (no harsh light or shadows from the very strong sun). As long as it is dry we can get outside and play. If it is cold - we can layer up (great for lovely autumnal photos). However, if it is raining, heavy, heavy rain, high winds or extremely thick fog we will need to postpone your shoot. If you are happy with indoor images we could proceed with an indoor shoot, alternatively we will agree on a new date.
+ Where will we go for our outdoor shoot?
During our chat prior to your shoot we will discuss the ideal location for your shoot. This is often a local country park, a woodland, a beach, a meadow or somewhere that is special to your family. Some locations work better for different times of year.
+ Can I book a shoot at an outdoor location further away?
The majority of my family outdoor clients like to choose locations which the children are familiar with. Where they feel comfortable and playful. This is often local to their home. I am however very happy to travel. Do keep in mind that there will be an additional charge for travel dependent on the chosen location.
+ I don't live locally to you, will you travel to us for the shoot?
The majority of family shoots I do are in South East London and Kent. I also photograph many family portrait clients in Cornwall, (any exscuse to visit my homeland}. I am happy to arrange shoots around my many trips home to the west country. If you do live far away, all you need do to do is ask me and I will do my very best to make it happen. Please note that there would be an additional travel charge.
+ What happens if my children misbehave during the shoot?
I fully expect them too! I love a bit of mischief and some cheekiness during a shoot, these are often the best shots. Please don't worry at all. It is only natural for children to react to me, an unknown person coming in with a camera to take pictures, be it a shy, silly or nervous reaction. I have a lot of experience working with children. I have an up to date DBS, work experience as supply SEN Teacher, a Nanny, a Performance Art Workshop Leader, not to mention my years entertaining large groups of children during my pantomime years (ohhhh, yes I did)! What amazes me is how well children often behave for others (those that are not their parents). So let me take the pressure off you - I do have a few tricks up my sleeve :)
+ Can you fix any problems with skin, my teenagers acne or my babies dry skin?
Definitely! Once you have chosen you final images I will deeply edit each selected image as part of the service I provide. So do not worry about any unexpected spots that make an appearance on the day.
+ What should we wear for the shoot?
We can discuss this further during your pre-shoot chat. I can guide you on colour matches and styles. It's also so important that what you're all wearing truly reflects who you are. If you're a family that loves to be in your wellies and outdoor jackets, or a family that loves thier flip flops, jeans and t-shirts, why not be photographed like that? All I ask is that you avoid stripes, patterns and bold logos.
+ How many images will you take and how many will you show us?
I usally take 450+ images per session and choose the best 50-60 to show you via a contact sheet which you will receive by email between 7-10 days after your shoot. You can then review your contact sheet and choose your final images using the code below each image on the contact sheet.
+ Why can't I see all the images from the shoot?
Trust me, you wouldn't want to! For all the many great shots there will be from your shoot, there are many blinks, sneezes, grimaces and surprising facial expressions. I spend time going through your images to ensure you see the best. I just ask that you trust me to select them.
+ I only want one image of the family, can you do this?
I spend time with your family, taking images of each family member individually and as a group to make sure they feel completely comfortable and relaxed. I often find that some of the best shots are taken near the end of the session when the whole family is super familiar with me and more playful. These images often capture a real story and authtenticity to the family. I feel if I were to come to take one photograph it would not be a true reflection of my style of photography nor my best work for you.
+ When will we receive the final images?
Once I receive your chosen image list I will then complete the deeper edits on your choices (the skin touch ups and so forth). Your final images will be sent to you via an online platform between 7-10 days after I receive your chosen image list.
+ We are only available on weekends, do we have to shoot on weekdays?
Like you I too enjoy a weekend and love to spend time with my family and order that cheeky takeaway but do not fear I do offer a number of weekend shoots throughout the year. These do get snapped up very quickly. I do encourage you to think of your shoot as a special occasion where you might get off work early and enjoy an after school fun activity with the children. The summer holidays and half terms are also a fantastic time to shoot. If you have a date in mind, please do just get in touch and I will do my very best to help :)
